Thursday, December 9, 2010 (The Last day)

Well, Yesterday it went great!
I explain to them how people in different countries celebrate Christmas differently then how we do, and that some people don't believe in Santa Clause, some of them believe en el NiƱo Jesus, Papa Noel, and others.
I also asked them how they celebrate it at home.
After that, I read them a book called "Christmas is here" (They all loved it).
Then I told them that they were going to do their own Five Senses Christmas Book.
It was very difficult to do the book, but it is a good thing that everything went well.
They all enjoed the book, and loved how it smelled!

Only 10 minutes left for me to play the violin and for them to sing a song. So I played "Feliz Navidad" while they singed it. It was cool, they all loved it. At the end I gave them a candy bag for them to have, and I huged them all.
I was sad because this was my last day, and I am not going to see them again. =(
But I left with a smile, because I did a good job!

My day at Terrace Elementary was a good experience in the field of Teaching.
To tell you the truth, I didn't really study the subject except for the 1st section.
Me and Yessica (My partner), decided to do to the lessons together instead of us doing it by ourselves.
I was very lucky because I got 1st grade Bilingual, (which is more comfortable for me to talk and write it).
I actually learned all their names, and the teacher was very surprised that I knew their name.
Me and Yessica had to read the lesson really fast to get things together. The kids were amazed at how big and colorful the poster was. I was really happy to see how active these kids were, they would answer all of our questions, and tell us things about themselves.
My favorite part of the day was Recess!!!!!!!
They all wanted me to see them how they climbed the monkey bars. Everybody wanted me to go with them and see them how to play, but I couldn't everywhere all at once so I told them if they wanted to play a game (everybody from my class) and so we played freeze tag, hide and seek, duck duck goose, and ring around the rosy!! =)
I had so much FUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They were so sweet because they all wanted to be around me or sit beside me, and they all called me "TEACHER". It feels good when someone calls you a teacher, because you actually feel that you are doing your job as a teacher.
They all thought that me and Yessica were going to comeback again and see them. I really hurt me to tell them that this was the first and last time. :(
I just hope this isn't the last time we are going to do this. =)
I look forward on another opportunity on JA!! :p

November 15,2010

I really enjoyed the websites that Mrs. Slattery gave us. There were fun, and they gave me an idea on showing the little kids this websites so they can play and actually learn stuff.
I also went to this website: http://classtools.net/
and I just randomly went to any of the things they had. I really like the one called random name picker. These can actually work when the students do not want to go and do something, you type the students name and it randomly selects a name (which its cool). i also played some other games that are very entertaining for the little childrens to play with. I really like this websites, (It is very useful for teachers to use in their classrooms).

October 28, 2010

Yesterday, it was cool. I got to see all of the children dress as their future career. There was a doctor veterinarian, nurses, baseball player, soccer player, singer, rock star, and spider man. They were so cute.
We were going to do an activity on the active board, but it was not working (that ruined the teacher plans). As Mrs. Alvarado always says "When there is a problem, there's always a solution". So, her solution was to do center activities (little math games). On the last ten minutes of class, the teacher said "Cendy brought us a present for everybody. Cendy, could you bring your surprise and tell us what you brought" so I did, I told them I had brought candy for everybody. One by one they camed, and they all thank me and gave a hug!!
It was a very fun experienced to see them all dress up as what they want to be when they grow up.

October 21,2010

Yesterday, was a very random, awful, stressful day for my teacher.Everything was going well until a little girl was feeling bad, and threw up in class (I was worried for the little girl). This made all of the teachers plans get behind schedule because they had early dissmisal that day. I also show them the little witches I did, and they were all staring at them like WOAH!!!! They all liked it, and we were thinking of where to put it and they all wanted on the active board, so I taped it there.

Also I had to interview her questions about the conference they were going to have. And one of the question was How would you prepare your conference?
Answer:     She gives them a  folder with their names on, and tells them to put some of the work that she wants them to put there show their parents the work they do in class. Also she tells them to pick a favorite book that they like, and put it on the foldor to show them to their parents.

The other question was: What would you do if the child's parent shows no interest on the child's educational development?

Answer:      I would talk seriously to the parent about how impotant it is for a child to do well at school, and give examples of what would happen to the child if he/she does not do well or if it does well. If the parent from there still doesn't show any interest, I will try to find a relative of the child that would care for the child's education, and if there is no one, I will then help the child myself to help her get through things.

Hopefully next week my teacher feels much better after all of this conference is over. =)

September 30, 2010 - 4th week

Yesterday was pretty much the same as any other week.
The only different thing that we did was addition, and solving problems.
We also learn about different types of liquid, and their description.
And we colored pictures, which it was fun!!

September 23, 2010 - 3rd week!

Yesterday, was FUN!!!!!
This time, everything was different.
When I came to class, the kids were reading. I helped this little girl how to read big words. After that it was time to go to the calendar and change the date. The little girl came up to me and hugged me, (she was so cute). She said "Thank You for helping me on my reading". =)  (In Spanish).
After that we were counting 5 by 5's (all of the little kids were looking at me like i was some type of genius, that knows all her numbers).
We played a lot of counting games. My team won on all of them. We all got a sticker.
After that we had a restroom brake, and the little girl came up to me again and hugged me again, and she said "You are very pretty" (but in Spanish). And i complemented her back.
I had a lot of fun, I just hope next week could be even better. =)
